METALAST Introduces MS-2002 Manufacturer Process Control Specification

January 6, 2003

METALAST International, Inc., the process control and complete technology provider to the metal finishing industry, METALAST International, Inc. has drafted the first ever manufacturer specification for computer process control in the electroplating and anodizing industry.

The MS-2002 Manufacturer Process Control Specification is not intended to replace any existing finishing specification. Rather, the specification offers benefits to the manufacturer and the metal finisher by stabilizing coating consistency, thus raising quality control standards.

The requirement of the controller is to automatically regulate and control the power supply, have the ability to create, edit, save, and/or delete recipes, pause and re-start the process, generate Process Verification Reports (PVR’s), and have an automatic shutdown, and end of cycle alarm.

The specification could have an enormous impact, as manufacturers will require their vendors to implement process control technology. By specifying Process Control, a manufacturer will ensure that quality control procedures and production process methods are standardized and verified and consistency is preserved. The specification will elevate requirements for finishing control.

METALAST has experience in writing finishing specifications. METALAST VP/National Sales Director assisted the U.S. Military with the creation of MIL-Spec-8625F, the specification widely recognized as the standard for anodizing requirements.

By adopting the Manufacturer Specification, manufacturers will be able to place accountability on their vendors to ensure that they are getting the highest quality and most consistent products for their metal finishing requirements.

METALAST International, Inc. is a recognized process control leader serving the entire worldwide metal finishing market (electroplating and anodizing). The METALAST IPC Pro Series process controllers (JobPro and LinePro) represent the first affordable, off the shelf process control solutions for the $50 Billion metal finishing industry.

Pro Series controllers will help facilitate greater product consistency, process run repeatability, better quality control, and traceability. Utilizing the ISO and QS compliant JobPro will also enhance production throughput with low cost plant retrofitting to platers and anodizers.

Additionally, METALAST offers a complete line of its own private label metal finishing chemistries, licenses its proprietary anodizing technology to captive facilities, provides technical support, training and education, R&D services, and is a metal finishing consultant to many of the Fortune 500.
