Revolution Underway, METALAST Specified By More Manufacturers

February 25, 2000

METALAST, the leading innovator in technology, research, and process support to the aluminum anodizing industry, announces the specification of the METALAST Process by two manufacturers.

The specification of the METALAST Technology by Beckman Coulter is the first specification of METALAST without the company realizing that work had been done and specified. METALAST has officially been specified by a number of the Fortune 500 including.

METALAST first became aware of the specification when their west-coast representative was contacted by a machine shop wondering how to get a part "METALAST-ed." The representative directed the machine shop to the nearest METALAST Licensee.

Over a year ago, Beckman was experiencing problems with consistency, uniformity, burning and poor product performance of their parts with their supplier. Beckman contacted a METALAST Licensee to anodize various parts for sample testing. The Licensee consequently sent numerous samples to the METALAST Tech Center for processing. METALAST had no knowledge of who the parts were for.

After 6-8 months of extensive testing by Beckman, the samples processed at the Tech Center and the Licensee’s facility proved superior and more consistent than its competitors. The excellent results were responsible for the specification of METALAST on their drawings.

Another determinant in the specification was the standardization of the METALAST Technology and the ability to utilize METALAST at multiple manufacturing locations around the country while still delivering the same exact product.

Also specifying the METALAST Technology is Mile High Equipment Co., Denver, CO. Mile High manufactures commercial ice making machines under the trade name "ICE-O-MATIC". The specification is a result of extensive third party testing of samples provided by six (6) suppliers.

Mile High has been working with METALAST Licensees and expects to contract with possibly other METALAST licensees for the production phase. METALAST was selected for the oxide quality and consistency, which is needed for the environmental, quality, and manufacturing requirements of Mile High.

METALAST offers the most complete and advanced technology to the anodizing industry. In addition to the world’s only dedicated anodizing research and development center, the company provides advanced chemistry, computer process controls, education and training, and full technical and marketing support. The METALAST technology facilitates production of superior oxides and operating efficiencies with improved consistency, repeatability, and process verification. METALAST is offered under a license to anodizers. Manufacturers can access any element of the technology, e.g. R&D, technical support, education and training under agreement with the METALAST Consulting Agreement (MCA).
