Founded in 1920, East Liberty is a nationally respected metal finisher with annual sales of $5 million+/-. METALAST had been working with East Liberty since October 1997. East Liberty signed a Confidentiality Agreement and toured the METALAST Tech Center during the summer of 1999. In January, METALAST representatives visited the East Liberty plant to discuss licensing and give an operational review.

East Liberty previously used the Sanford process, but after extensive meetings, including talks at SUR/FIN ’99, and sample testing, the company decided to improve their operations and implement the METALAST Technology. A deciding factor was the praise East Liberty received from its customers regarding the samples tested at the Tech Center, specifically, the superior performance and precise consistency of the samples.
