METALAST Implements Change In Corporate Business Model

August 13, 2000

METALAST, the leading innovator in technology, research, and process support to the aluminum anodizing industry, has announced a moratorium in the licensing of job shops.

In order to broaden its client and customer base, METALAST International, Inc. has introduced its MPCS Monthly Rental Program. METALAST has now expanded to cover all industry needs giving them commercial flexibility with their array of provided services. With the introduction of the program, METALAST executives have decided to impose a moratorium on efforts to License anodizing job shops.

The MPCS Monthly Rental Program allows job shops to rent the METALAST Process Control computer only for a flat monthly fee. The flat monthly fee is $3,000, the minimum monthly fee paid by current licensees, with a 90-day minimum requirement. The facility utilizing the MPCS will have no rights to use the name METALAST and they cannot represent themselves as METALAST Licensees. It is a no royalty agreement. They will, however, have access to purchase the METALAST additive and other products/services from the company.

The core METALAST business strategy will continue to focus on building METALAST-PLASFAB anodizing lines, licensing captive facilities, selling the AA-200 additive, and strengthening their manufacturing sample program.

Now, however, a job shop can realize the benefits of process control, process automation, and process verification without having to enter into a long-term agreement. Many companies have already expressed considerable interest in the rental program.

METALAST is the worlds only complete anodizing technology. In addition to the world’s only dedicated anodizing research and development center, the technology include proprietary chemistry, computer process control automation, education and training, technical support, scientific research, and marketing support. The METALAST technology facilitates production of superior oxides and operating efficiencies with improved consistency, repeatability, and process verification.

METALAST is available by license to anodizers and manufacturers, and by consulting agreement to manufacturers. Customers may also utilize the technology for samples, R&D, vendor process audits, technical support, education and training, and other services on a pay as you go fee basis.
