METALAST Research Team Produces Two Additional TECHSpecs™ |
| The METALAST R&D group recently completed the METALAST TECHSpec - "Wear/Abrasion Resistance". The results obtained show that the METALAST MLT-III process substantially outperforms the wear resistance specification of MIL-A-8625F ("MIL Spec"). In particular, the wear indices for alloys 7075 and 2024 are two to three times lower than allowable wear indices in the MIL Spec. This study verifies that METALAST licensees can confidently pass MIL Spec.
METALAST Research has also finished the TECHSpec - "Microhardness." Vickers microhardness testing was performed on two alloys, 2024 and 7075, under Type III conditions using the METALAST Technology. All the 2024-T3 and 7075-T6 coupons in this study far exceeded the ISO 10074 acceptance values for Vickers microhardess. METALAST TECHSpecs are technical data sheets describing the performance capabilities of anodized surfaces using the METALAST Technology.
