METALAST TCP-NP

Overview

METALAST TCP-NP  (no prep) is an environmentally friendly trivalent chromium chemical, which meets all the regulations and mandates that have banned certain hazardous chemicals, including hexavalent chromium.  METALAST TCP-NP conforms to the most commonly recognized and adhered to regulations, such as RoHS, WEEE, ELV, REACH and the OSHA PEL. This product also meets the most widely used military specifications for chromate conversion applications, including MIL-C-5541 and MIL-DTL-81706B.

Prattt & Whitney, a United Technologies Company, originally developed and patented this product under the name “TCRP.”  After years of development and testing and once the product was proved to be a viable replacement to hexavlaent chromium in a production environment, Pratt & Whitney licensed this chemical technology to METALAST.  In 2010, METALAST introduced METALAST TCP-NP as an environmentally friendly and affordable solution to hexavalent chromate conversion chemistries.  METALAST TCP-NP is the latest environmentally friendly chromate conversion METALAST product available to industry.  Although similar to other METALAST chromate conversion products, such as METALAST TCP-HF, METALAST TCP-NP has some distinguishing features and benefits.  For example, METALAST TCP-NP does not require excessive pre-treatment, in fact, only a cleaning step is used in the processing of parts (no deoxidizer or etchant).

METALAST CC-600 is a simple additive to the METALAST TCP-NP processing tank. CC-600 leaves an easily identifiable blue color to the finished part, ensuring those in quality control that the enviromentally friendly and RoHS compliant chemical METALAST TCP-NP was applied to their parts. CC-600 is not a performance additive like METALAST TCP-HF EPA, it simply provides a recognizable color.

General Performance

METALAST TCP-NP was originally developed by Pratt & Whitney, one of the world’s leaders in the manufacturing of civil and military aircraft engines.  As a result, this technologically advanced product, was tested against the most rigorous standards used in high performance chromate conversion aerospace applications.

Specific Performance and Product Advantages

METALST TCP-NP excels in key performance areas, such as:

  • Corrosion resistance
  • Coating durability
  • Paint and adhesive bonding

Additional advantages of using METALAST TCP-NP include:

  • Elimination of pre-treament (deoxidizer and etchant)
  • Lower solution operating temperature- Room Temperature-120°F
  • No topcoat required
  • Meets or exceeds industry standards for:
    • Contact resistance
